OrthoMed Tungsten Carbide (TC) Mayo Scissors are robust surgical scissors designed for cutting and dissecting tougher, non-delicate tissue. Mayo scissors are commonly used on heavier tissue, and surgical-instrument references specifically identify their use for tissue such as fascia, cartilage, and tendons. Clinical research also documents the use of curved Mayo scissors for fascial release during surgical procedures.

The OrthoMed TC Mayo design features beveled blades with tungsten carbide firmly bonded to both cutting edges. Tungsten carbide provides a hard, durable cutting surface designed to retain sharpness longer than conventional stainless-steel cutting edges. OrthoMed identifies its tungsten carbide scissors by their gold-plated finger rings and guarantees the cutting edges to remain sharp for at least three years.

Available in straight and curved configurations, TC Mayo Scissors provide options for different surgical approaches. Straight scissors provide a stable cutting action for tougher tissue, while curved scissors can improve visibility and control when working in deeper tissue planes.
